Well I was considering staying in last night but when my friend Rob Messenger State MP for Burnett telephoned to say he was in town and would like to catch up after he had finished his political business we decided a fun time to unwind would be at the Latino Social Groups Dance and Social Night (1st Friday of every month at Soul-Sa Restaurant on the Esplanade).  My friend Kay decided to join us and off we went to meet up with the Latino Group.

Rob was welcomed by Brian and the group members and immediately fitted right in. After some initial coaxing Rob participated in a group Salsa lesson led by Leonie and picked up the moves quite quickly stating that the dancing was;

“Great in the alley way….it’s not threatening for beginners”.

Kay being the dance enthusiast she is was snapped strapping her knee up in an attempt to achieve maximum dance performance!

Soul-Sa Restaurant owners Robyn and Steve did a wonderful job as per usual and are always a delight to chat with.

Thanks Rob, Kay, Soul-Sa and the Latino Group for as per usual a FUN night out!

Our Latin Social Group AGM Dance was on Saturday the 30th of August.

The theme of our night was E; i.e. country or anything that starts with E.

So guess who attended besides Elvis with Pricilla and Elton. We had Elizabeth Taylor  and an Elegant English lady with her Gentry, Kings and Queens of Egypt, Ecuador & Ethiopia.  Egyptian belly dancers, Elf’s also a horny little Evil guy.

We all danced the night away till late; Tango,  Cha Cha, Rumba, Salsa & Merangue.

Please enjoy the pics (please click on images to see larger version, then click on post title Latin Social Group AGM Dance to return to this page. Click on Comments at the very bottom of post to make a comment).

Hervey Bay’s 1st Ever Salsa Party!

Monday, September 1st, 2008

By Jeanette Maynes

Wow, what a Big Night of dancing was had at Hervey Bay’s 1st ever Salsa Party at the Deck Restaurant.

The evening was attended by 120 Latin dance enthusiasts and those who were curious to learn as to what Salsa dance is all about. The bling, sequins and sparkles were on show as the crowd was dressed in their finest! Table clothes were out and the room precisely planned for maximum mingling, social interaction and dance floor participation.

The night commenced with a delicious buffet dinner and an exciting dance performance from the Maryborough Latin and Alternative Dance Club. The 16 performers did an amazing routine, keeping in time with their fun Latin movements and thoroughly showcased the skills learnt from their experienced teachers Lupita and Desiree.

After dinner international dance instructor Rico from Rico’s Salsa Club started a dance lesson and the dance floor was instantly packed with all aspiring to perfect the moves and keep in time. Fraser Coast Mayor Mick Kruger was a quick learner and has no problems mastering the moves along with the many others who braved the dance floor!

The Mayor then officially opened the Salsa Group and the 1st Salsa Party presenting a plaque and commenting on how much fun it is to have a different social option on the Fraser Coast.

Lilly and John who won the FREE tickets given away in The Independent Newspaper commented on what a wonderful time they had and were also spotted on the dance floor. They were visiting Hervey Bay from Boort in Victoria and it was their 28th anniversary on the night!

Rico kept everyone partying well up to midnight! I’m sure the Maryborough dance ladies would have danced till dawn if Rico didn’t stop the music! These ladies are dancing machines and demonstrated what Salsa Parties are all about – FUN, SOCIALISING and DANCING!!!!

I can’t wait to see everyone again at the next Salsa Party!

Please feel free to email me with any positive or negative feedback from the night or for the next party… info@salsagroup.com.au
